Cruising the Chesapeake Bay and Potomac Rivers
Cruising the Chesapeake Bay and Potomac River is a visual introduction to two of the most popular waterways anywhere. When used in conjunction with up-to-date charts and guide books, it is the perfect complement for planning delightful excursions in beautiful, history-filled waters.
The video guide offers a sampling of the best-known sights and destinations of the scenic and historic Chesapeake and Potomac. Under the direction of a Coast Guard-licensed captain, our itinerary takes us north from Annapolis to Baltimore and then across the Bay to the Chester River. We journey southward along the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake, through Kent Narrows and into Eastern Bay, with its many popular destinations, such as St. Michaels. We pass through Knapps Narrows to visit the pleasant communities of Oxford and Cambridge, and explore other anchorages on the Choptank.
Heading west, we cross the Chesapeake and cruise up the Potomac River as far as Washington, with its dramatic riverside monuments. We return to the mouth of the Potomac, and make our way along the Bay's western shore through the Solomons Island area, past Calvert Cliffs, and back to Annapolis.
Magnificent aerial photography gives a bird's-eye overview of the vistas waiting to be enjoyed, while field footage from the water provides a boater's perspective. Location photography at featured destinations shows you the sights and sounds waiting if you decide to drop anchor and go ashore. Along the way, practical tips about cruising these sometimes-busy waters are offered.
