Description: Lovely French silver & silver gilt thimble

with raised chased decoration depicting a Jean De La Fontaine (1621/ 1695) fable.

Waffle-type indentations extending down the sides

to meet a scene from the fable, The Monkey And The cat.

The inner of thimble is gold washed. The size is 1" in height and 5/8" in diameter.

This is in excellent condition with no undue wear, damage or repair.

It bears the French boar’s head hallmark for .800 Parisian silver

plus the maker’s mark for René Lorillon of the famous *Lorrilon Maison*

It is in a leather covered thimble case that's lined in velvet and satin.
