FROM THE DUST JACKET:
This is a Spanish language paperback written by the Cuban journalist Jose Luis Masso. The first half of the book is "Que Pasa en Cuba?" (What's happening in Cuba) and the second half is about "Cuba: 17 de Abril." My Spanish is limited (and rusty) but I am assuming that the book is about the Bay of Pigs invasion in Cuba on April 17, 1961.
Below is the text from the back of the book as it appears in Spanish. Below that is my very lose translation using an online translator (altavista) and a Spanish/English dictionary. Any corrections to my translation would be appreciated.
From the Back Cover:
Tranlation
Jose Luis Masso, prestigious (sanctioned?) Cuban journalist, author of the present book, has without doubt, a triple authority to judge the stirring drama that is happening in his mother country.
First: He was not from the beginning an enemy of the process of national renovation that in Fidel Castro attemped; rather, he cooperated with him in all possible ways [everything within his reach].
Second: He is a personal, near friend of the main revolutionary figures, which has allowed him first hand knowledge of the many incomprehensible situations. [no translation of "tranfondo" available]
Third: He is a journalist who has for a long time reported in defense of the popular causes, and the real advancement of the Cuban nation. His testimony is, then, the authorized and dispassionate testimony of an exceptional witness of this [antillano] event that concerns many people.
Jose Luis Masso was not only companion of Fidel Castro from the university classrooms, but, in addition, is one of the few journailists that, by virtue of his office - which specialized in political and social subjects - knew the origin and the development of the main measures of the regime of Havana, until the moment at which him had to leave the country.
Other books by Jose Luis Masso include Cuba R. S. S, Camino
De Dos Rios and Buenos Dias.
