CURRIER IVES POSTER STALLION HORSE RACE HEADS NEW
Up for sale is a new print of an 1885 lithograph by the famous firm of Currier & Ives. The poster features the heads of three powerful horses—perhaps during or at the finish of a race. What is spectacular is how the power of the horses are projected in spite of seeing only their heads. The muscles and veins are shown bulging from their heads. The text at the bottom reads: “FINEST IN THE WORLD”. This tremendous work is sure to be a great gift or collectible of horses.
The lithography printers, Nat Currier and Jim Ives, did this banner. From their business on Spruce Street in Brooklyn, New York, they printed over 1 million prints covering over 7500 different titles from 1834 to 1907. Though their lithographs are in high demand today, they once described their business as "Publishers of Cheap and Popular Pictures".
This print is on a quality 100# high glossy text paper. The poster measures 15.5” (w) X 10.5” (h). It has a small border to allow for framing. This format is perfect for a standard 16” x 20” frame, a manageable size for a variety of decorating purposes.
The condition of this item is new.
