Circa 1964-1974 tabletop sculpture of a downhill skier of patinated bronze on a stone base. Overall height 10", figure alone is 7" tall, skis are 9 1/4" long. Signed on one of the skis "c C JERE". The underside of the gorgeous white agate or white quartz stone retains a label from Artisan House in Los Angeles it reads THIS IS AN ORIGINAL CURTIS JERE DESIGN. MR JERE WHO IS A CALIFORNIA MULTI-MEDIA SCULPTOR, WORKS IN BRONZE, COPPER, BRASS AND STEEL. THIS HANDCRAFTED SCULPTURE HAS A PATINA AND FINISH DESIGNED TO BECOME LOVELIER WITH AGE. Curtis Jere is actually a collaboration between partners Jerry Fels and Kurt Freiler and is a combination of their names. Artisan House was started by Fels and Freiler and is still in existance today. Bronze in excellent condition- no damage or repairs. From a local estate and the original owner who purchased it some time around the late 1960's or early 1970's. The stone is the perfect accent to the bronze. Both elements have a very organic quality. I would love to see this piece displayed in a way that would illuminate the white stone- it would be very dramatic. The skier has two metal rods in the bottom of the skis that correspond to two drilled holes in the stone. For safer shipping, he will be removed from the stone. Weight unwrapped is 9 pounds.
