BREATHTAKING PERFECTION!!!

That's what this fine 2,200 year old ring, which was found at a Celtic Site in the Danube Valley, is simply breathtaking!

This is a Celtic Tribal Chieftain's ring which has the symbol of the Celtic Sun God "Bel" deeply engraved right in the center of the ring's mirror-like bezel. This SUN symbol has a circle surrounding it and outside the circle are some more, well-done "rays' which slant away at an angle and this design continues onto the side edge of the bezel. It is truly incredible.

LOOK....at the sides of the ring bezel. The bezel is a WHOPPING 4.5mm thick and there are deep linear decorations all the way around the 14mm x 11mm bezel. There are also some linear decorations on each shoulder of the ring to highlight the bezel.

The "Sun God" of the Celtic peoples of Eastern Europe was known as, Bel (Belenus or Belenos) (Gaul) God of healing and light, and referred to as "The Shining One". He is in charge of the welfare of sheep and cattle. His wife is the goddess Belisama. They can be compared with Apollo and Minerva. It is from this God that we get the name for the Celtic Fire Festival Beltaine from.

The picture below shows how well loved and worn this ring is. This pattern can only come from being worn by the same individual for DECADES! It is amazing that this treasure is still complete after all these centuries. The color comes from being cast of an alloy with a kind of low copper content.

LOOK....at the color of this ring. It is a bit hard to tell but the ring has a "silver - wheat" color to it which has kept its lustre since I first cleaned it a few years ago. FYI- I think so highly of this ring that it was in my own collection of rings I wear and came across it in my night stand last week. It has sat there for the past year because the finger I wore it on wont seem to shrink to size any more because I KNOW that it cannot mean that I have put on weight. ;)
