THE BOOKPLATE FOR Dr.SCHEINER,CHAIRMAN OF THE SOKOL ASSOCIATION
THIS SMALL LITHOGRAPH IS SIGNED IN STONE - MINT CONDITION
The exlibris with MUCHA´S work ordered by Dr. Josef SCHEINER was made in the
final period of the First World War. It is connected with the foundation of the independent
Czechoslovak Republic. Dr. Scheiner was the chairman of the Sokol (Falcon) Association (Sokol - a sport
organization), Czechoslovak Sokol Community and Prague Sokol and played an important role by events around the
foundation of the Czechoslovak Republic. This ex-libris was issued in the limited edition of 400 pieces (according
to the information passed by the relatives of Dr.Scheiner). There is a motto : "NO PROFIT, NO GLORY" in this
picture.It is produced using a lithographic method, similarly as by the French edition of Mucha´s
postcards.The ex-libris is in an absolutely perfect condition without damage. Dimensions: 77 x 109 mm, it is about 3
x 4.3 inches.
