Perhaps the word “stunning” is overused by various sellers, but in this case it is an understatement. This hand-cut bowl by Caesar Crystal is in a class by itself. The pattern called “Harlequin” is part of Caesar’s Art Crystal Collection and it is special. This piece in the rare Black color is very bright and refracts beautifully.  The black color matches any decore and several of our customers have added it to do dress up their modern kitchens and living areas.  Anyone who collects crystal or wants to give a special gift should put the Harlequin at the very top of his or her list.

The piece is etch-marked with the Caesar name and a sticker and comes with a certificate of authenticity and it its own box. The “Harlequin” pattern was designed by Mr. Krajicek who is retired, and is owned by Caesar Crystal. The top of the bowl is 12” long, 7 ” wide and stands 4 3/4” tall. I have one available and it will be months before another one comes on the market. Because Bohemia was for years behind the Iron Curtain, their companies are not as well known, but the work as you can see, continues to surpass most quality crystal makers. [WHAT IS CASED CRYSTAL - Cased crystal is made out of two layers of crystal melted together - a colored layer of crystal on the outside and a clear layer on the inside. The outer colored layer is then hand-cut away to reveal the clear layer underneath. Note that the color is added to molten crystal and is then worked. This is the traditional and highest quality way of making two-tone colorful crystal. Due to this technique, each piece is blown twice making it inherently more valuable than similar clear crystal. In addition, be aware that much of today’s colored crystal is made once and painted on the outside, which gives it a tendency to fade over time, lessen its value and look shallow (you can see a lot of it on eBay). When looking for quality colored crystal, ask the dealer for true cased crystal and avoid painted crystal. Cased crystal always appreciates in value and is becoming more rare as companies turn to surface painting.]
