This is a set of genuine vintage engravings showing views in Mount Auburn Cemetery published in Gleason's Pictorial in 1853. The engravings appear in an article titled "Mount Auburn."  It is in excellent condition and shows views titled Entrance to the Cemetery, Gothic Chapel, Bowditch Monument, and View of Forest Pond. The article describes the history of the cemetery and is full of historical descriptions of this landmark American cemetery.

Mount Auburn Cemetery, located in Watertown and Cambridge, Massachusetts, was founded in 1831 as America’s first landscaped cemetery. Comprising 175 acres, it is a National Historic Landmark, an active cemetery and a major cultural institution in the Boston area. It played a significant role in American history, inspiring the creation of the nation’s public parks, and today it is one of the best birding spots and most beloved landscapes in Massachusetts.

The engravings are approx. 6 by 9.50 inches (2 of these) and 5 by 7 inches (2 of these). The views appear on two complete uncut pages of this 19th century newspaper. Each page is approx. 11 by 15 inches. There is text on the reverse side. This is not a reproduction. These are vintage woodcut engravings, over 150 years old, in excellent condition and guaranteed to be as described.
