Bent CF Card Pins?

The Canon Digital SLRs are great cameras, but have become notorious for bent, broken or missing pins in the memory card slot.  Not only do mis-aligned pins prevent the card from being inserted, they also break the connection inside the camera.  In some cases, the internal pin contacts are knocked loose, and can cause serious damage by shorting out circuits.  LeZot Camera Repair has both professional training and hands-on experience in the proper repair of these models, and would be happy to fix yours as well.

The most common symptom of bent or missing pins is inability or difficulty in installing the Compact Flash memory card.  In some cases, the camera may display E02.  In most cases, with proper lighting, you can remove the card and see into the slot.  Every pin should be evenly spaced from its neighbors.  If any are uneven, or if you can see the side of a pin, it is bent.  The camera should still turn on, and if it does not turn on with a fresh battery, it has further damage.  We can still fix it, but not under this repair listing.  You could contact us at 800-286-9027.  We are available Tuesday-Friday from 9am-5pm, and Saturdays from 9:30am-5pm.  We are closed Sundays and Mondays.

Before shipping your camera, please examine your memory cards.  We have found that the cards themselves are often damaged at the same time as the pins, and a damaged card could break your camera again!  Compare with the photo below, and if there is any doubt, you can send the card too (please backup all images first), and we will repair that as well - included in the discounted $125 price.

Turn-around time for this internet special is 7-10 business days from when we receive your pre-paid repair to the time we ship it back UPS Ground.  If you need a rush, let us know and we can negotiate a date and rush charge.  Please note that business days are Tuesday-Saturday, and LeZot Camera Repair is closed Sundays and Mondays.

Shipping within the US is $15 for UPS Ground (includes insurance).  USPS services, and expedited shipping available upon request.

Every camera is inspected upon arrival.  If additional problems are found with the camera, we will contact you with a re-estimate and you will have the option to approve or decline before committing to any additional costs.  Cameras that exhibit tamper damage (from attempted repair) will incur additional charges.

SHIPPING INSTRUCTIONS

Please send the camera body and body cap ONLY.  Please remove ALL other accessories, such as bags, straps, batteries, memory cards (unless damaged), etc.  Affix the body cap to cover the lens mount opening, and put the camera in a plastic bag, along with a note including: your contact information (name, shipping address, email and phone number).  Please indicate your preferred payment - checks may be included with the note ($140 covers the repair and return shipping to the lower 48 United States).  For credit cards or PayPal, just state that we should call you when the camera arrives at our shop for the card number, or send a PayPal invoice.  Please do NOT send a camera bag, or the original product box, as this may delay return of your camera.   Please contact me if you have any questions.

The price of this auction is for the specified service.  If other service is needed, the cost for the additional service will be given in advance.

Limited service warranty:

Repairs are warranted for a period of 90 days from the ship date.  Damage due to fair wear and tear, corrosion, intrusion of liquid or dirt/sand, heat, impact, abuse or tampering is not covered.  Consequential damages, such as loss of film due to failure of our repair, are not covered.  Repair of the equipment is our only obligation, and any refund is at our sole discretion, and we may at any time fulfill our entire obligation under this warranty by returning the equipment to you and refunding the original repair charge.  It is the customer's responsibility to check the repaired equipment to determine that it is satisfactory for your intended purposes and to return it to us within the warranty period if it fails to operate properly.
