Canon Powershot S2 S3 S5 Shutter LCD black image repair

Auction description:

You are bidding on an Ebay auction that belongs to the repair service of the very common problem of "Black Image", stuck shutter or closed Iris, which causes that the Canon Cameras PowerShot S2 IS, S3 IS and S5 IS won't take a picture but only shows a black image in the LCD screen or Viewfinder.

95% of the problems related to this issue are repairable without spend on replacement of parts. The fix is easy, but it has to be done properly by a specialized technician, because requires a complete disassembly of your camera.

The other 5% are related to CCD sensor issues, water damage problems, or to damaged shutter assembly that requires to replace it.

This repair is performed in a clean environment and by professional personnel, so the optics of your camera won't be affected at all.

Canon repair center charges a flat repair fee of $120.00 plus S&H.

I do recommend this repair service only for cameras out of Canon warranty, otherwise, you will avoid such manufacturer warranty.

Please read below test section very carefully so you can verify if your camera can be repaired very cheap.

Verification process:

A. Tools or accesories needed:

a) Flashlight

b) Fresh set of AA batteries

B. Procedure:

1. Place the fresh batteries in your camera

2. Put your camera in a flat surface, with the lens assembly oriented to you.

Note: The lens has to be clean of dirty, oil or anything that affects to see thru the lens assembly.

3. Turned off the camera, please use the flashlight to see the front of the lens. The iris and shutter of the camera have to be closed, so you won't see any circular opening thru the lens (Check first picture).

4. Turn on your camera, and using the flash light, please check the thru the lens again. If the camera DOES NOT HAVE any problem with the shutter or the iris, you will observe a circular opening thru the lens (check the 2nd picture).

If the shutter and the iris stay closed, then you have the problem that is repaired under this service auction (Check the 3rd picture).

It is going to be shipped 3 (three)working days  after being received.

Warranty:

It comes with a 30 days warranty for problems related to the "Black Image", stuck shutter or closed Iris.

In case that despite the above testing process, your camera has other problem non related to the shutter or iris assembly, I am going to let you know what the problem is, and quote the required part. If you approve it, you will pay the real extra amount of the part, and no extra labor amount.

In case you don't approve it, I am just going to keep the flat S&H fee of $8.00 (S&H in USA, or $12.00 for S&H to Canada) and return your camera to you, refunding the remaining of your money.

Shipping fees:

Flat fix rate of $8.00 for S&H within USA via USPS Priority Mail plus insurance, and $12.00 to Canada via USPS 1st class international plus insurance.
