THIS RESETTER DOES NOT WORK ON CLI-221 OR CLI521 CHIPS - There are no resetters yet made that will work on these chips, and RKS Technik, the company who has engineered the Canon Resetters recently informed us that they have spent a lot of money attempting to break the code on these new chips, and at this time they have put the project aside. Instead they now have Auto Reset Chips available for these printers. As the Exclusive US distributor for RKS Technik, please email or cal us if you want a set. CUSTOMER QUESTIONS
What is the difference between the red resetters and the new QE538 blue ones?

There are 2 differences:

1) The QE538 blue resetter has two screws in the bottom plate so you can remove it, and replace the battery when necessary.
2) The way the red resetters are configured, their one battery is known to burn the circuit board in some units, while the new blue ones
have an upgraded circuit board making a more effective energy flow that does not burn out.

Why do I need a Chip Resetter?
Answer: All Canon Pixma Printers come with Ink Cartridges, which have a small circuit board chip on them. This chip tell the printer that the cartridge is a Canon Cart, and continues to monitor how much ink is in the Cartridge, so you always know how much ink you have left. It then tells the printer when the cartridge is empty. Once the ink cartridge is empty, the chip is spent. Even if you refill the cartridge with ink, the chip will no longer read the ink level and it will tell the printer that the ink cartridge is empty. The only way you can refill a cartridge and get the printer to recognize it as full, is if you reset the chip. So if you want to save over 90% on ink costs, you need to have a chip resetters.

i have been over-riding or forcing my printer to print with my refilled cartridges, can I use this resetter on these chips so the ink monitor will start telling me how much ink I have left?
Answer: No. If you have been forcing your printer to print, you have blown the original chips on your ink cartridges. You will need new OEM Canon Chips to get your print monitor to respond, and these can be reset by our resetters. The good news is we now stock Virgin Canon OEM Chips, they are available in our Ebay Store. They sell for $2 each and you can email us if you just need one. We sell them in sets on Ebay.

Can I use Canon original ink cartridges as well as non-oem, re-manufactured or other compatible cartridges with this Chip Resetter simultaneously?
Answer: Yes, original and compatible cartridges can be used in any combination. We stock top quality, new (not refurbished, remanufactured or rebuilt) compatible cartridges here on Ebay. Our Compatible Cartridges contain wide gamut top quality ink.

Does the product come with easy to read instructions?

Will the cartridges be emptied completely or – like with other systems – will a certain amount of ink remain in the tank that I have to discard?
Answer: The cartridges will be emptied completely, just like original cartridges.

Do I need a separate chip for each cartridge?
Answer: Yes, you need an original chip for every different color cartridge. The chips can be new or used, or from the original cartridges.

Do I have to change the settings of my printer or my printer software (printer drivers)?
Answer: No. All settings remain unchanged.

What happens to the manufacturer’s warranty if I use this Chip Resetter?
Answer: The manufacturer’s warranty remains intact.

If only 2 to 3 original cartridges of my CANON Pixma 4200 are empty, can I exchange the empty ones with compatible cartridges and leave the original ones in its place?
Answer: Yes. You can alter some of them and leave the original cartridges in its place.

Is the system compatible with Windows Vista?
Answer: Yes. Our chip resetter will work with all versions of Windows, all Operating systems including MAC OS

I am considering buying one of these for my Canon Pixma MP520. I assume it will work on these cartridges.PGI 5BK, Cli 8 etc. My question is what exactly do I need do in order to get this to work and is there a limited amount of times that I can reset each tank. On my old Canon I refilled indefinitely but I realize they did not have the chip.
Answer: This resetter is really easy to use. If you have an original Canon Cartridge with the chip still attached, you simply place the cartridge with the chip facing bottom (like when you put it into your printer) and press it into place. The unit will flash a steady led light when the chip has been reset - it takes about 5 seconds. You do exactly the same thing if you have a remanufactured or compatible cart which you have attached a chip too. There is no limit to how many times you can reset the chip on any tank or how many times you can refill it. I have spoken to some people who have had their canon printers for years and still continue to refill the original ink cartridges. As you know, it is only recently that Canon has added chips to their printers, so that is why a resetter now is important to have. Especially if you have a multifunction printer which includes a fax machine, because it will not print out the faxes automatically if the chip in your cartridge has not been reset.

Will refilling my inkjet cartridge void the manufacturer's warranty on my printer?
Answer: No. Refilling your inkjet cartridge does not tamper with your printer in any way, and therefore does not effect your warranty. Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Improvement Act, the consumer is allowed the right to choose any consumable they desire for their printer, and allowed to make any repairs to the printer cartridge they deem necessary. This allows for the use of refill kits and compatible cartridges.
