Canon XL-1S PAL Prosumer Camera
- Used in a smoke free studio for four years
- 100 hours of record time
- Never used to capture video (more on that later)
Why PAL?
We bought the camera to shoot two feature length movies in the same XL-1S MiniDV to film process that Danny Boyle used on Fox Searchlight's 28 Days Later. PAL is 25 frames per second, vs. NTSC which is 30 fps, while film is 24 fps. Shooting with a PAL XL-1S got us closer to the 24 fps we wanted (Magic Bullet got us the rest of the way there).
How did you capture your video if you didn't use the XL-1S?We purchased a small, consumer JVC PAL camcorder that did all the playback. This camcorder is included in this auction so you can spare the XL-1S's heads.
Will it work in the states?Yep - that's where we did all our shooting. The XL-1S is all setup to use US sockets. Same with the JVC camcorder.
What do I get if I win?
Everything you see in the first picture (minus the keyboard making its cameo in the background), including the JVC camera in the last picture.
- The XL-1S
- 1 Standard lens
- 1 Manual lens
- 1 Wide angle lens adapter
- 1 M200 shoulder mount with XLR audio inputs
- 1 metal hard case for the equipment
- Charger
- 3 BP-930 batteries
- 1 BP-945
- 1 JVC camcorder with battery and charger
Good luck!
