Captain America #1 CGC 8.0 Unrestored. Historic Origin and First Appearance of Captain America. Jack Kirby and Joe Simon Hitler War Cover.
Condition: The front cover appears more like a 9.2. This book was mainly downgraded for a heavy dust shadow on the front and back cover. The spine and staples of this book are pedigree-like quality and have a fresh-off-the-newstand appearance. Many of the top ten Captain America Comics #1 books have rusty staples. This copy has near perfect staples which is vital for investing in a book that keeps its grade over time. The Kansas City Copy of Captain America #1 sold in February on ComicLink for $150,000 and both staples on that book had rust, with the lower staple rust already beginning to seep into the paper surrounding it (This damage can easily be viewed from a high-resolution image of the Kansas City Copy that can be found in the Heritage archives at HeritageComics.com). In my opinion, the dust shadows on this book are a much more acceptable flaw than a book with rust, because the rust will continue to bleed and damage the book over time. I've seen most of the top 10 Captain America #1 books in person, and in my opinion, this one is the 5th best unrestored copy. If you are a "spine freak" like me, you will LOVE this book.
Keep in mind that if this book did not have the two dust shadows, it would have probably graded a 9.2 and I would be selling it for $250,000 instead of $75,000. So, some Captain America fan will get a great value.
