Cardinal Bird Art Original Oil Daily Painting A Day NR

You are bidding on an original work of art by Dean Haven. It is done in luscious acrylic colors in an Alla Prima (all at once ) style. Only high quality artist's materials have been used in the creation of this art work in order to assure longevity. It is painted on durable gessoed 1/8" thick hardboard. The painting measures 5"x7". It is sold without a frame. This artwork is done in textured oil. What fun!

I haven't done a bird for awhile...one of my favorite subjects...so I just had to try the beautiful cardinal. Just having fun with colors and textures.
The gesso was left textured with brush strokes. I then toned the surface with purple acrylic.
What I really enjoyed with this one was how the paint application broke to show the texture of the support especially around the outer periphery.

The paint was applied with both a painting knife and a brush. Great texture.
