Carl Julien’s pictures are excellent, especially the one of First Pres., Cola. You can see why it was hard for me to leave.

This book was previously owned by Ernest T. Thompson. On the half-title page is an embossed stamp: ETT, Library of Ernest Thompson.

Ernest Trice Thompson (1895-1985), Texas Presbyterian theologian, author, historian, led movement that reunited Southern and Northern Presbyterian Churches, wrote the majority of Book of Church Order.

BIOGRAPHY:

Daniel Walker Hollis (1922-2007), South Carolina historian, author, professor, wrote Look to the Rock, South Carolina, the Civil War and Reconstruction, and History of Saint Andrews and the Dutch Fork.

Carl Thomas Julien (1897-1977), South Carolina photographer, works include Look to the Rock, Architects of Charleston, Beneath So Kind A Sky, Sea Islands to Sand Hills, Plantation Room, and Pee Dee Panorama.

Robert Lewis Dabney (1829-1898), Virginia Presbyterian theologian, preacher, statesman, writer, social critic, a Richmond Union Seminary professor, Stonewall Jackson’s chief of staff, wrote Systematic Theology.
