Carlton Ware Feathertailed Bird & Flower ART DECO C1285

It is a privilege to present this magnificent Carlton Ware Feathertailed Bird and Flower Jam Pot with its original lid and under plate. This is a very RARE pattern and the Jam set is a hart to come by shape. This is a classic ART DECO pattern from the halcyon days of the art deco era.

Feathertailed Bird & Flower was produced on two colour-ways; a mottled mat green and a mottled mat blue. Both the under plate and the pot have the black stamped Carlton Ware script style mark that was introduced in 1925, they also have the pattern number 3355 written on each piece by hand in black ink. This pattern would have a production window of 1929 to 1932 at the very latest.

• Dimensions

The under plate has a diameter of 12.5 cm (5”) and when the lid is in place it stands 10 cm (4”) tall to the top of the knob on the lid.

• Condition

This awesome conserve set is in EXCELLENT condition; there are NO chips, cracks or repairs. The only crazing is to the white underside of the under plate. There is no wear to the hand painted motif or to the gilding. The only flaw is a merest shadow of discoloration to the lid – nothing really – I only mention for complete accuracy. I have no doubt that this magical piece has never been used and I would have as a guess that it has lived the privileged life of a cabinet dweller.
