For sale is a 1994 Carter D10 - 8 and 7 pedal steel guitar with eight floor pedals and seven knee levers - in beautiful working and cosmetic condition. There is only light wear corresponding to the age of this guitar.
The body is black formica over maple. The fretboards are in great shape and the tuners work fine. The pickups are George L E-66's. A new Carter D10 with the same setup costs almost $4,000. Carter’s BCT (Body Contact Technology) can be added to this guitar at the factory if you desire but this one sounds great as is.
The pedal and knee lever setup is standard Emmons for E9th & C6th necks -except that the right knee going right on the E9th has a high F# - G# along with the lower G# moving to F# change. There are tunable splits on the B-Bb change (the bottom string does need an extra rod) and the 6th string G#-F# change. The tuning can be easily changed.
The case is in great shape except for normal wear of the cloth interior. Included is a leg and rod pouch and a tuning knob. (Note that the little plastic identifying ring is missing on the rod for floor pedal #6. A replacement can be ordered from Carter for a buck or two).
I bought this guitar last year and unfortunately, I have not had a chance to do anything but set it up for a few weeks to check it out - it works smoothly and sounds great. I took it down when relatives visited and it has been in the closet ever since. I realize now that I just don’t have time to learn the C6 neck. I hardly even have time to touch my S10 and don’t have room to keep two guitars set up. So, realistically the Carter D10 must go. Here is your chance to get a great guitar at a very good price.
A top quality 7/8th BJS chrome and steel bar is included. This guitar will be professionally packed. Shipping to the US is $80 or actual cost + insurance. Because of the age of this guitar, it is sold as is - but dont fear - it is in perfect condition.
