Quartz is often said to be the ‘stone’ that every one needs to start with and is the most recognized type of crystal. It's what many people think of when they hear the word crystal, although there are many different types of crystals in all kinds of stones.
Quartz can be as clear as ice (ancients called quartz ‘Holy Ice’ and thought that it came from the heavens) or milky white. It can have inclusions, veils, bubbles, formations, etc. Clarity is not important for a quartz crystal's energetic quality. In fact inclusions and impurities can make the crystal more energetic and increase it’s ability to amplify subtle energies. Without a few 'imperfections, the energy is often not as intense. These are being offered by Sherry Whitfield Merrell, the caretaker of 'Synergy' one of the world's verified ancient life-size crystal skulls. Synergy and Sherry are written about in the new book by Dr. Jaap van Etten, PhD. entitled "Crystals Skulls: Interacting with a Phenomenon." Some history and an explanation: I feel like a “Johnny Appleseed” of crystal skulls - heh heh! Do you know this story? Johnny was a man who lived in the 1800’s, and legends say that he dropped apple seeds here and there, so that they could someday grow into trees.
A few years back I had some health problems that meant that I wasn't able to travel with Synergy, the ancient crystal skull that I take care of. I felt bad that this unique energy was not out there to share with people. We came up with the idea of sending out small skulls that have been with Synergy and are charged with the subtle energy. The original energy is there, but it is added to. Of course it doesn’t have to be a skull shape; it can be any stone. Many people who want to experience the ‘Synergy Energy’ for themselves do so now, through the smaller skulls and various crystals and stones that I am offering.
I am back to traveling these days, but I still send out the little skulls, charged with the 'Synergy Energy.' Synergy and I have been to many sacred places around the world, including Glastonbury, England; Sedona, Arizona; the Isle of Iona and Staffa, in Scotland; Mary Madelena's cave in France... we met Pele on Hawaii with two beautiful Kahunas... and had many more interesting adventures in highly energetic spots. Synergy's energy is getting stronger and stronger. People send me emails from all over the world with tales of their experiences with Synergy and their small skully friends. People say they feel the energy connections to Synergy, intensely. It's really cool - or "Vet Cool" - as they say in Holland! :-D
People have asked me about how I clear my stones. I use a variety of methods, depending on the stone type. Some I clear in salt water, others with sunlight or moonlight. Some I have used sage and/or cedar on. After they are cleared, I put each of them near Synergy, rotating them around, until they are ready to go out into the world.' Every one of the stones that I list - in any shape - has been with Synergy and is fully charged with the energy - after all... that's the whole point of me doing this!

Here is one way for you to work with your crystal skull:
Hold your skull firmly in either both hands, or in just the right hand, keeping the thought of what you wish to work with in mind. The crystal receives the energies via the physical body of the person holding it, absorbs the vibrations, then amplifies them and re-broadcasts them outwards. These amplifications are received by the chakra (or receptors) in the left hand and relayed up the arm, to the brain, to a gland called the hypothalamus and or the limbic system, impressing the vibrations on the sub-conscious mind. The energy continues on, moving down to the right hand, holding the crystal. The process continues in a loop, reinforcing itself. The skull shape is thought to be especially effective in this process, as the inside back of the skull acts as a kind of satellite dish, to broadcast the vibrations of the person using it.
