This is a cast iron ice stop that was used on early roofs. There were many different forms, but eagles like this were popular. It is rather heavy. The casting shows the embossed wing feathers. The condition shows some wear from the elements. The eagle is 4 1/2" tall with a 6" wing spread and a 1 3/4" base. This makes a nice ornament or figure for a cupboard or even to be used as a bookend. There are no markings on this item.
