Castle of Frankenstein16 HORROR Nudes BERNI WRIGHTSON

Castle of Frankenstein #16 was published by Gothic Castle Publishing in 1971. These magazines have art, comics, articles and reviews of horror & Sci-Fi movies and TV shows. There is also some nice political commentary, reflective of a more politically and sexually enlightened time . There is early artwork by Ken Kelly on the cover and a 10 page story by Berni Wrightson (some of the earliest work I have seen from him).

The articles are very quirky in what they cover, in a very interesting way. There is part 1 of a 2 part interview with Robert Bloch (author of Psycho), a bizarre article on Czech Fantasy ("unisexed bearded chicks of the future" -- wow!), the occasional naked woman, and other interesting content. I loved the quirky editorials, writing style and photo choices--Me thinks these guys had a little too much pot when they worked on the magazines. A great flashback to the early 70's period.

The back cover has a full page color illustration of dinosaurs and volcano from Disney's "Fantasia" - an old favorite.

I have a full size scan of the covers so that you can see the condition of this magazine. It has a tiny lower left corner creases that also affects 1 internal page, a little spine wear, some yellowing on the edges & darkening of the pages from age and minor cover wear from handling. Internal photos are from a previous copy.
