For Auction is a Korean, Catawba Valley fusion pot by Michael Ball. This bottle was actually a prototype for some larger pieces I made last summer. The pot stands 8" tall and 14" around. This pot was actually made in two pieces and that was so I could figure out the larger pieces. The glaze is clear alkaline with some iron like rocks powdered and put on the shoulder for firing. A glaze test also. The lighter side if the is the fire side. The shoulder of the pot is nearl covered in darl cracled glass. This pot has lots of character. Ther is a crack which is clearly photographed. That is a glazing crack. This was one of the glaze thickness test pots. The crack expands and contacts as it dries. The pots are glazed raw, so you need a few tests before you commit. The highly crazed glaze really is thick and fantastic. I would not fill this pot whit water and set it on a nice walnut table though. The pot is not damaged but, the condition is good. Stamped MB on the bottom.
