| Cauldon
Bouillon Cup
English Staffordshire
Offered
for auction: A brilliant small bouillon
bowl made by Cauldon China, one of the great English potteries
operating out of Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent. It has a beautiful green
and gold trim on the inside and outside rim, and colorful floral
bouquets on four sides. The handles, rim, and foot are thickly
trimmed in gold, which is solid and intact.
This
piece measures 5-7/8 inches wide across the handles, 3-7/8 inches wide
at the rim, and 1-7/8 inches high at the rim. It is in excellent condition,
with no signs of use or wear (no chips, cracks, or crazing, no utensil
marks).
This
lovely piece is marked "Cauldon England," which is shown in
the Kovels' guide (page 166-N) as the mark in use from 1905-1920. There
is also a decorator's hand-written number L482. |
