This auction is for a Bank Note issued by the Central Bank of China dated, Shanghai, 1930. The note, No. HG973304, was made by the American Bank Note Company in the amount of 20 Customs Gold Units. The front is printed in Chinese with a picture of Sun Yat-sen, and the back is printed in English, and has a picture (I believe) of the Central Bank of China. The note, which still retains some crispness, has no tears or rips, It has been folded sidewise and lengthwise, and has some discoloration due to age and handling. It measures 3 1/2 inches wide, is 7 1/2 inches tall, and is a green, grey, red and white in color, and is an attractive memento of the early Republic of China. |
