Cereus Peruvianus? Or Cereus Validus?
The last name (second name) is very difficult to determine with many varieties of cactus. So I simply call these "Cereus" and enjoy their powerful growing habit.

In fact, I have posted specimens on my eBay store that grew so large I can't ship them. A photo showing an example of this problem is below.

(right) This is a donor plant from which I started my collection of Cereus cactus plants. In the earth these grow about 12 to 15 feet high. The columns do not tend to break off in wind storms as other large cactus do because of the thin ribs (less weight) radiating from the hard central core that makes a stronger limb.

Placed outdoors these are wonderful landscaping specimens. You often see them in movies shot in southern California and Arizona.

Cereus grow rapidly if given good soil to let roots expand, and plenty of water during the summer. In that respect they grow like a fruit tree.

In fact, Cereus Peruvianus are grown for their fruit; which is called a Peruvian apple.

Fully rooted cuttings
These are super healthy rooted cuttings that are ready to transplant right now to large pots. They are in their original rooting pots so please transplant as soon as possible to stimulate continued root growth. 4 to 10 gallon is good for now. Go 20 gallon if you want a large indoor cluster of columns.

Photo at right is one of the source plants for the San Pedro cuttings offered for sale on eBay. The owner, Frank, died at age 95 in 2008. He told me in 2004 that his San Pedro was 45 years old. So now it is probably 50 years old.

My other source of plants started in 1987 with Cactus Kate in Watsonville, California.
