Hello, and welcome to our
auctions. We have some amazing doo-wop, soul, and R&B
records from the 50's up for auction now. Some of the
records are in the best condition I have ever seen for
records from this era! Check out our detailed pictures
to see just how nice these records are. All records have
been cleaned with a VPI prior to grading and placed in
clean sleeves. We ship all records with the upmost care
and use quality boxes & packaging materials.
We'll
be listing the Doo-Wop, Soul, & R&B on Friday for 10
days auctions. On Monday, we will also list a
collection of 80 sealed LPs from a variety of genres
so check out our other listings to see the full
range of items up for bids.
Chantels - We Are the Chantels
Notes: No doubt
about it, this is one of the best records I have had the
opportunity to list on ebay in 10+ years here. I have
done extensive research on past auctions and I can say with
confidence this will be one of the nicest copies of this rare
record that has been listed. It is certainly one of
the best album covers I have
seen.
I
will be as detailed as possible on the conditions of the
jacket and record. I recently upgraded cameras to get
more detail in the pictures. Still, if you feel
you need more information or detail, feel free to contact me
and I will provide any information
neccesary. Obviously this record will be packaged
and shipped with the upmost care.
This is the Chantels - We Are the
Chantels, with withdrawn cover. On END, number LP
301. Greyish/white label. Matrix: N 3001-A and N
3001-B. Has a small deep groove inside label area.
Purchased by owner at E.J. Korvettes department store in NYC
in the 1950's and has been well taken care of up to the
present time.
Condition
(Jacket/Vinyl Side 1/Vinyl Side 2): VG+ / VG / VG+
Condition Notes: Jacket is extremely
nice. The original price tag is on the record which some might consider a flaw
but I find to be a nice historic document and stamp
of authenticity added to the record. It is an E.J. Korvette's
(the first discount department store in the U.S.) price tag with
a $2.79 price. The top right corner is very very
slightly dinged. Along the left side of the front art
which is glued on
the jacket you can see faint bit of
dark spotting which is very minor.
Other than that, I can
find no real flaws with this jacket. The corners are
tight, the art work is sharp and clean, there is no wear along
spine or edges. View the expanded pictures and take a
close look! Really amazing condition for a record from
this era.
Vinyls: The apperance of both sides of
the viny is VG+. Still has some gloss,
no feelable scratches, only minor scuffs and signs
of wear.
In playtesting, I would grade side A as
VG. There is some low level background surface noise
present, mostly on the first 3 tracks. On the
last 3, it is much clearer and plays with very little
background noise. I would make the reasonable estimation
that the owner gave more spins to the hit tracks (1.
Maybe, 3. Come on My Little Baby) on side A more than the
other tracks on side A and B accounting for the wear
there.
Side looks and plays even better than side 1,
solid enough I would rate it VG+ . The background static
level is very very low and only heard occasionaly and almost
not present at all.
Labels: Side 1 - Very
nice, no wear, only a few very very light spindle
trails. Labels: Side 2 - Also very nice, only the
lightest spindle trails.
Inner sleeve - original, generic
white, square cornered inner sleeve has some bends and
discolration.
