Report itemThis title, Battle Cry, is among the hardest to get of Chick Publications. To get this 4-page periodical you had to be on Chick’s mailing list. The cool thing about this six times yearly mag is that aside from the expected advertising of new/current Chick reading it contained articles that could not be found anywhere else. As Chick collectors have come to expect, Jack T. Chick probably could not even write a recipe for chocolate chip cookies without being controversial and raising the hackles of the masses and this title surely delivers! It has an article about evangelicals that signed a pact agreeing not to proselytize Catholics, one about how Clinton welcomed an Irish Catholic terrorist, a whole article that serves as an introduction to the Crusaders comic about Satan, “Angel of Light”. The Chick mail Bag has testimonials of the grandeur of tracts from happy readers and there is even a column where readers send in tract passing tips. Another interesting article is about a Christian bookstore owner who stood up to a Roman Catholic priest who was harassing her for “distributing anti-Catholic propaganda in comic book format”. One of the articles, sure to irk the hell out of a few, is the one confirming that allah was originally a pre-Islamic moon-god. Lastly there is a letter from Jack himself and a 1-panel cartoon about a kid going to school in a bullet-proof vest. This is a FUN read! It was sent tri-folded, so there are two creases through it horizontally and there is a word written pretty small and neatly in pen on the upper margin of the last page. It is still an amazing copy of a bit of Chick memorabilia that is not all that common. If you are in the market for a couple other rare Chick items please check my other auctions.  As always we start all our listings at .99, with no reserve, so this cool religious item will be in somebody else’s collection soon. Neither this, nor any of my other offerings, have any type of undisclosed restoration, manipulation or enhancement.
