These cones work great for standard broiler/roaster birds, and would
probably be large enough for any other chicken or duck. I've never had
anyone tell me they were too small for their birds, and I've had people use
them for everything from small chickens to 14 pounders. At their widest
part (top,) they are about 11" wide. Pictured in them in the
third picture are a couple of my last batch of 8 week old Cornish X's, which
had an average dressed weight of 6 pounds. They are made with sheet metal (ductwork material) and assembled with pop
rivets. I started making my own because the traffic cone I was using
didn't work very well, and the ones I saw for sale at the hatcheries were
ridiculously expensive. They can be attached to a tree, affixed to a
stand as pictured, or anything else you can come up with. However you
mount them, I've found them to be quite helpful for processing my birds.
You won't find a better price for these, and they work much better than trying to
make one out of a traffic cone or milk jug- trust me, I've tried a ton of
different things, and this was the best option! Please order before you actually need them. Most orders are shipping
out within a day or so, but I work full time and have a two year old, so I
build these in my spare time. I put a 5 day handling time on these as a
"just in case," but in all likelihood they'll be shipped out much
quicker than that. That being said, I'd hate to have them arrive too late
for your processing day. If you absolutely need them immediately, just
send me a message. Most orders are filled within a day, but please
understand that I am making these to order, out of my barn, to support my
chicken raising habit. I'm not buying them in bulk or mass producing
them. Another note about shipping- read the "shipping information"
section below. There IS reduced shipping for each additional cone
ordered. Every cone ordered after the first one is $3.25 for
shipping. The total cost will be calculated for you, and you can review
it before you check out. Also, the cones are very light, but big, which
makes estimating a shipping cost difficult, even with my reduced rate for
additional cones. So, the initial cost to ship one is high, but to add
more isn't much. If you order 4 or more cones, you'll probably get a
partial shipping refund from me- as long as they can all fit into one box.
Unfortunately, eBay's shipping calculator can't accurately include these
variables. If I can, I will send you a partial refund in addition
to the discount shown below, but that will depend on exactly how many you
order, your location, and how many total boxes I'm shipping to you. So,
be prepared to pay what is shown for shipping- ($8.49/$3.25,) but you could get
a partial refund. Shipping price listed is for US shipping only- email me
if you're interested in shipping to I realize that there are two cones pictured, but the pictures are of my
personal setup- each order will receive ONE cone. As always, thank you all very much for your business! Any more
questions, don't hesitate to ask- I check this page several times a day.

On Jun-14-09 at 18:58:53 PDT, seller added the following information: As of 6/14/09, the cones are put together with a spot welder, eliminating pop rivets. This makes for a smoother surface, which is easier to load your birds into. It also gives the cones a neater appearance. On Jul-04-09 at 20:51:17 PDT, seller added the following information: Cancel my last update- no longer using the spot welder. DON'T buy the spot welder from Harbor Freight! It died after about a week of use. On Sep-14-09 at 20:31:09 PDT, seller added the following information: Thank you to everyone who's ordered cones. Just to let anyone know
who's thinking about ordering in the near future, I will be out of
town at a training for a week from 9/20-9/26. So, I won't be building
any cones that week. Any cones sold during that time will be built
when I get back, and due to my work and chasing around a two year old
schedules, they may not be built IMMEDIATELY after (as it says at the top of the page, it may take up to a week for them to be shipped.) So, until
this Saturday night, I'm going to try to build cones every night after
work and get them shipped the next day. If you're going to be needing
them in the near future, please order them before Saturday. Again, if
you order next week, it could be three weeks before they're delivered
(worst case scenario, with shipping time.) |
