I am selling this for an elderly couple, and she has dearly loved this machine, and has just decided to part with it. I did not find a patent date on it, which from my research indicates that it was made prior to 1929. The original case is included, which has a nifty little slot that holds the sewing machine in place, so you don't have to clamp it, like some other models. The crank turns smoothly, and the parts all seem to be in working order. Hardly any paint loss, although there is some tarnishing on the silver parts. It is not brittle, or deep rust, and may be able to be restored fairly easy, as it seems to be surface only. Otherwise, it is in good condition. Don't let this one pass you by!
