ABOUT THE ARTIST: Francis J. Barnum, veteran, historian and artist, does much more than just sculpt scenes from the Civil War. His chosen medium is three-dimensional metal sculpture. He has redefined the genre and has established standards by which future sculptors are judged. Through meticulous research and attention to detail, Barnum explores a spectrum of subjects from action-filled climaxes in well-known battle to the most personal and emotional moments of ordinary people as they struggled to answer their country's call to war.
