{} Words fail me. the pictures do not do this item justice, because when I took pic, the glass of the frame reflected.

{} Great conversation piece. Collectable Embroidery on the middle point, the embroidery is belong to Chinese ethnic minority--MIAO ,the way of this painful needlework almost be lost, worth for collecting (The embroidery is significant, but the meaning only the Miao people who age must be over 60 years knew). Every pattern is unique, a lot of national Chinese embroidery skill has been lost! Nowadays, few young girls want to learn and keep this civilization, but in this "money time", one piece embroidery may be take one month, three month, half year or more than, can't supply one family. The artist framed it just like to keep stamps, wish to preserve it well and as a special gift or to decorate your home with an exotic flare. A hook at the back ready for hanging.

{} Because these embroideryes are all hand made, no two will be the same. They have a high value as collector's items.

{} A brief introduction of Chinese Miao ethnic people's embroidery:

Embroidery is the indispensable ornament on the celebrating costume of Miao woman including embroidery on collar, shoulder, chest, back, sleeves, skirt and hat. Largely, the picture composition of Miao Embroidery is of geometry, which has a taste of primitive simplicity with various patterns. Since the difference of stripes and blocks, the embroidery may be divided into two kinds, the Two Squares Series and the Four Squares Series. Most of the pictures are derived from usual vegetations, creatures and instruments. The shape of diamond would be the solid pattern in the whole picture. Small diamond in the big is a popular form and the small diamonds are consisted of square, round and triangle spots with different colors. The piece of stripes mostly comprises spots, lines and planes with one whole and two dissected pictures. The embroidered piece is made according to the longitude and latitude lines of the clothes, so the curved lines have many turning angles. Big piece, for example, the back embroidery, usually uses the patterns of diamond and square, symmetrical transformed geometrical spots and other tuning lines. All the pieces, which at the first view are unplanned colorful, are actually well composed with colorful threads crossing clearly and precisely with complicated various structure.
Mostly, the tone of the pictures for young girls is light and for middle-aged women is dark. In Kai Li, Huang Ping, Shi Bing and other places, for example, the girls and relatively young women would use deep blue fabric as the base, embroidering bright red on it crossing a little white, yellow and green color, to make their celebrating dress, brilliant and eye-catching; the embroidery on the celebrating dress of the middle-aged also take the deep blue fabric as the base, toned with indigo with a little orange, green and white, which represents mature and serious feeling. In history, Miao women didn’t go to school but take the nature as their teacher. Their great respect to the nature and deep understanding about the surrounding biosphere has granted them the power of culture which has been melted in their blood, and the nature also has sharpened their aesthetic sense and cultivated their ability of creating to an unreachable extent. The authors of the embroidery don’t adopt realistic method to present the nature, but recreate the nature things with their own sense of beauty. They cross the images of the nature and totem, transforming and vary the images. For example, they combine fish with petal, transform butterfly to fruit-megranate as the body and branches and leaves as antennas, recreate vegetation as human face and add a flower as tail to a dragon. All they do have created rich symbolistic meanings and ideas which cannot be understood by modern people. The pattern of the embroidery of Miao has preserved the features of the primitive aesthetic sense in Miao’s early history. From them, we surprisingly see the free expression of Miao’s primitive totem thinking mode, which has features of arbitrary wildness and primitive simplicity. And the brave color composition is sometimes deep and sometimes bright; the freehand method emphasizes the part features and is brave to take and abandon. In my opinion, Miao Embroidery is always the neglected folk handcraft. Different from Han’s embroidery which is good at flat embroidery and direct expression, Miao embroidery presents intense colors of symbolism, expressionism and mysticism by integrating sense of aesthetic and ancient creation skills. It is no wonder that  an art profession offered the following comments, “ the special aesthetic experience is not the feelings of modern people, neither the unchanged primitive art experience of ancient society. It is the complex experience of the co-moving of ancient and modern times by broadly jumping method. Particularly the epic myth in the Miao embroidery conveys the remote Chinese culture of ancient times.” To really understand the embroidery of Miao, we shall do more pondering on the connection of Miao’s aesthetic culture with Chinese ancient culture.
Miao Embroidery has passionate, brave and bright color use and the skills adopted often make high contrast, which make the extreme use of the division and composition of colors and grant the works great value of appreciation and dramatically shaking power.
