Chinese Neolithic Jar Circa 2500 BC
JAR #6
This jar came from a dealer in New York City seven years ago. They had been my passion in University days and I went wild! The condition is exceptional and the decoration runs the full of this period. Jar has no chipping on the jar lip. Please see pictures below for overall condition. This Jar does have some bright white spots. The white spots look to be possible paint debris. Spots can be cleaned off with some care. The lower half has some aging and is not in as good as shape as the upper half. The Iron slip decoration has no explanation as there was no written language at the time.
A four thousand year old jar will grace any interior and give a unique sophistication to your home. I’ve had to wire them to the shelves since an occasional earth quake or cat has sent a few crashing to the gallery floor. They are not high-fired and unforgiving of marble floors.
Dimensions: Height 12", Width 13" (tip of handle to tip of handle).
