Chinoiserie Oriental Green Gilt Bergere Armchair Chair

Description:
This is a very nice quality early 20th Century green "Chinoiserie" lacquered and decorated scroll back bergere cane tub chair / conservatory / bedroom / boudoir chair.  The chair has a solid carcass with original upholstered drop-in seat with very decorative green floral upholstery.  The chairs stand on cabriole legs, with pad feet, decorated with gilt "Chinoiserie" work, having raised gesso gilded red / black and white figural decorations to the arms and seat front rail, with a vase shaped splat to the centre with figural decorations with a bergere scrolled arm with a raised figured butterfly and floral decorations. 

Date:
The chair dates circa 1920s.

Condition:
The chair is in good general condition, but there is some damage to the gesso work in places, but the chair has been sealed and polished revealing a lovely rich green colour.  The chair would originally have had cane work fitted to the arms but this has been removed with all of the holes drilled ready to have cane work re-fitted.
