"A choli is a midriff-baring blouse worn in India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and other countries where the sari is worn. The choli is cut to fit tightly to the body and has short sleeves with a low neck. The choli is usually cropped, allowing exposure of the navel; the cropped design is particularly well-suited for wear in the sultry South Asian summers. Cut-out backs and front-opening buttons are some of the features of contemporary designs.
Saris are often woven with an extra length of material meant to be cut off and fashioned into a matching choli. The choli may be sewn so that the elaborately woven borders of the sari material form the bottom edges of the choli sleeves. However, cholis need not match the sari. There is a growing trend towards stretchy, comfortable cholis made from knit materials.
The traditional choli was worn without a brassiere, as is evident from the images in the Choli Art Gallery, below. However, many modern South asian women wear a soft bra under the choli, for a firmer appearance of the bust. Expensive designer cholis are sewn with padding and reinforcements so that a bra is not needed and backless or off-the-shoulder cholis can be worn with ease.
Women of the Gujarat and Rajastan countryside may also wear the choli with a gypsy skirt, or lehnga. Their cholis are often loosely fitted and heavily ornamented with embroidery and mirror work, or shisha embroidery."

Where Does Our Clothing Come From? These items are generously donated to us in order to benefit our community school, TKG Academy, in Dallas, Texas.
We will mention if an item is obviously new. However, since all our items are donated, please be aware that some of them may have been worn before, or show signs of wear. As far as possible, we will try and accurately describe small flaws such as a spot or snag. Remember though, that your satisfaction is guaranteed, and you can always return the item for a refund if you are not completely happy.
Fabric Content: Most items don't come with tags, and for the most part, we can tell if they are silk, cotton, rayon, synthetic or a blend. However, since some synthetics are so close to the real thing, we can't always be 100% sure. If we are unsure about what kind of fabric it is, we will mention in the description.
Care: Most cottons need no special care. They can be washed on a delicate setting, then air-dried on a hanger. Synthetics can be easily washed and generally don?t need ironing. Embroidered, silk and beaded items need to be either hand washed or dry cleaned. In particular, some silks are not color fast, and the colors will run if they are washed. For any questions regarding care, please email us.
Your Bid: Your bid is a binding contract. Purchasing insurance is recommended, as we are not responsible for items damaged in the mail, or lost. For faster service, Paypal is recommended.
Shipping: Most items will ship Priority, unless other arrangements are made before the end of the auction. For multiple wins or very small or light weight items, arrangements can also be made. Save with combined shipping!
