Christie's Auction Catalogue - MAGNIFICENT JEWELS 1982

Geneva: Christie's (International) S.A. 1982. Magnificent Jewels Hardcover Near Fine - / No Dust Jacket. 7-7/8" x 9-5/8" (19 cm x 24.5 cm) 117 pages + 113 full-page plates, 44 in color. Auction catalogue for the sale referenced as "Victoria", held December 1 and 2, 1982 at the Hotel Richemond, Geneva. Book is black silk or silk-like cloth over boards with gilt title and pasted-on color panel to front cover, gilt title to spine and gilt Christie's emblem to rear cover. Includes laid in 3-fold sheet which contains a list of estimated values in Swiss francs and a bidding form, not marked.

The book covers have a few very light rubbed lines and a small dulled spot to the top of the spine, a small dent to the bottom front edge, corners and edges otherwise sharp. There is a little loss to the Christie's emblem above the title and some fine scratch lines within the color paste-on, without loss to the paper surface.

The endpapers are intact and free of marks and the contents tight in the binding. The page contents, on polished paper, are bright and clean, page corners and edges sharp. A few introduced marks occur on four pages only - 26, 103, 116 and 117 (see photo detail for typical example) - and are limited to small  "X"s in the margin and/or short underlinings in blue ink.  None of the plates are marked .

A beautifully produced catalogue - even the black and white plates are impressive, and the color plates are gorgeous.
