This set of crystal beads is coming from a descendant of a prominent Rochester, NY family as she goes through the estate items. I have the good fortune to help her with this process as the items are tasteful and just plain beautiful. This set of glass beads (with I know high crystal content as they are so sparkly, with great clarity and also more weight that the usual glass beads) are nicely graduated and faceted. As can be seen the colors are very pretty citrine color (toward the yellow shade of citrine than the sometimes more green color) with every other bead being clear as are the small beads on the end clear. These were very upper end costume jewelry and may have even been sold in a fine jewelry store. The clasp looks original and is a gold filled clasp (marked 1/20th 12k), and the string is a sturdy, much better than ordinary string. If there is any damage to this piece, it is very minute as I checked it with a magnifying glass. I think that these piece was worn only on very special occasions, or as with prominent people, maybe not at all. I consider this piece in very good condition for the age. The style of this piece, material used, etc all suggests a circa 1930s "flapper" era item. These beads are also 24" long, which is more a flapper era length than people tend to have worn in later years. The 'flappers" were the era of woman that thin was "in" as opposed to the Victorian figure with more curves. The flapper woman thought the longer style beads complimented the straight line dresses of the era and made for a more slimming effect. This appealing shade of beads is one that is not often seen and I consider it rare, Chances are that if you would like a strand of beads like, especially anytime soon, you will likely need to get them here. I am pleased to offer this rare estate find for consideration. Check out my other items! I tend to like the old, unusual, scarce and possibly unique items. If this is your interest also, then check out my other listings. I do combine your winning auctions to save you money on shipping costs. Let me know if you want insurance. I do give "frequent flyers" breaks. I DO NOT sell to Poland or Spain. The mail is too slow and complaints are too high, mail delivery rates have been 1-2 months!. Postcards are shipped in cardboard and rigid plastic sleeves to protect from damage, I DO NOT profit from postage. The postage cost for outside the US is $3.00 for postcards in the rigid protector. Please inquire regarding postage rates for other items outside of the US. Thanks, Bob, Roger ** Please use the email rmiller2@stny.rr.com for payment to paypal. ![]() |
