It is my privilege to present this large and prestigious Clarice Cliff Gloria Bridge Bizzare wall Charger. This pattern was designed by Clarice Cliff in 1930. It is a classic Clarice landscape, a highly stylized scene with a bridge taking up the central ground.

The scene has excellent depth and has obviously been painted by a hand at the peak of its game. If I could be so bold, I would suggest that this is an original by Clarice herself and not the work of one of Clarice’s painter, of course I have no proof of this.

The scene has been hand painted over a matt oatmeal ground. This is a true Charger (or Wall Plaque) as it has 3 factory made hanging holes on the rear rim. This pattern can be found on page 62 of the Clarice Bible (Comprehensively Clarice Cliff by Greg Slater and Jonathan Brough). 

It has the standard Bizarre maker’s mark of the style that was in use from 1930 to 1935.

  • Dimensions

This delightful Charger measures in with a HUGE 34 cm (13.5”) diameter.

  • Condition

It is in EXCELLENT condition; with no chips, cracks, stains or repairs and NO crazing. There is some very minor discolouration; I have not tried to clean it as it is still hanging on the owners wall. There is small firing flaw just to the right of the bridge – clearly visible in the photos – I really only mention for complete accuracy.

It is very RARE and impresive piece of Bizarre, chargers of this ilk do not come on the market very often. Don’t miss out on this wonderful piece from the undisputed doyen of the English Art Deco movement. This is a seriously collectable art-work.
