It is my privilege to offer this magnificent Clarice Cliff Bizarre oval carving plater. It bears the “Islands” motif over a Honey Glaze ground. The central portion of the motif is coloured lithograph with the decorative bands hand painted.

This pattern was designed by Clarice Cliff and was introduced in 1936. See page 264 of Greg Slater & Jonathan Brough’s excellent book “Comprehensively Clarice Cliff”, published by Thames & Hudson. This magnificent artwork has the Bizarre back stamp of the style that was in use in 1936. This back stamp incorporates the pattern name.

  • Dimensions

This delightful plater measures in at a HUGE 31.7 cm (12.5”) by 25 cm (9.75”).

  • Condition   

It is in EXCELLENT condition, with NO chips, cracks, stains or repairs. As is so often the case with production of this style and vintage it does exhibit some crazing – nothing hideous – but enough to impart a delightful antique patina.
