A well known art instruction manual, much sought after for its Arts & Crafts aesthetic.  Excellent resource in the study of Art and Design.

Applied Art was primarily written to aid the teacher who must teach arts and crafts along with other subjects.  Graded lessons in drawing, painting, design in black and white and colors, cutout and border patterns, simple modeled objects, etc., are carefully and thoroughly outlined.  Among the handicrafts presented are stenciling, batik work, block printing, leather tooling, gesso work, metalwork, and cement pottery. Lettering and illustration for books and magazines follow, after which poster art is carefully considered.  Includes hundreds of illustrations in color and black and white plates.
