Classical Greek Boy Plaster Chalkware Column w/ Mirror
You are viewing a very unusual antique plaster or chalkware figure of a little boy in the Greek classical style, holding a laurel wreath with mirror in the center.
The figure stands 21" to the top of the wreath, and is 5-1/2" in diameter at the base. The mirror is a 4" x 4-1/2" oval.
The piece has old gold highlights on the boy's robe, loincloth, and hair, as well as on the wreath and base.
The mirror has evidently been replaced over the years, and the back of the current mirror has been taped in place with white tape.
The bottom of the piece has a protective felt covering that has several holes in it from wear over the years.
There are a few minor chips and scrapes to the finish, and a larger 1/2" edge of the robe on the back is chipped off.
Overall, this piece is in amazing shape, and it would be beautiful in an entryway, bath or sunporch setting!
