This is an original 80's CD edition, not the newer one in ebay's database.
ABOUT MELike you, I'm a dedicated CD collector and audiophile. Every week, I will be listing dozens of rare and collectable CDs, Gold CDs, Super Audio CDs and other discs of note. Add me to your Favorite Sellers list and check in with me every week to see the latest offerings.
ABOUT THIS CDIn many cases, the CDs I sell will be first editions, or the very first time that title ever appeared on CD. Because so few people had CD players way back when, very few of these early CDs were pressed, making them rare and collectable today. In addition to being coveted by collectors, many audiophiles prefer these early CDs, as they have no over-compression (excessive LOUDNESS) or crazy EQ applied like so many modern versions or so-called "remasters".
Also, the quality of the discs themselves is much higher than modern versions, which you can easily see and feel when you hold one of these great old CDs. They are thicker and more sturdy, and have a mirror finish to them. It is believed that the extra care and quality control used at early CD pressing plants also contributes to the increased sound quality of many of these older CDs. Heck, even the old jewel cases are thicker and heavier!

ABOUT MY GRADINGBecause I am also a collector, I grade much more strictly than most ebay sellers. We've all bought "excellent" condition discs that turn out to be scratched beyond recognition. I would not do that to my customers.
MINT: As new. MINT-: A few light, teeny tiny marks visible at close inspection that prevent disc from being called "MINT". NM: Near Mint. A few small light marks, but still a super disc, and highly collectable. EXC: Excellent. Some small marks/wear and possibly a *small* and *light* scuff or two. Still quite nice, and definitely a collectable quality disc. VG+. Very Good Plus. A listening copy that plays flawlessly, but has some typical "used CD" marks/wear/scuffs. My "VG+" is far better than many ebay sellers' "excellent".

| | Album notes | The Carpenters: Karen Carpenter (vocals, drums); Richard Carpenter (keyboards, background vocals). Additional personnel: Jim Horn, Bob Messenger, Doug Strawn (woodwinds); Joe Osborn, Danny Woodhams (bass); Hal Blaine (drums). Digitally remastered by Richard Carpenter. Karen and Richard Carpenter's third album, released in 1970, includes two of their signature songs, Bacharach/David's "(They Long To Be) Close To You" and Paul Williams' "We've Only Just Begun," a tune originally written as a commercial jingle for California's Crocker Banks. The rest of the album continues the siblings' exquisite taste in outside material, returning to Williams for "I Kept On Loving You" and to Bacharach for the Shirelles' "Baby It's You." Also featured here is an appealing version of the classic "I'll Never Fall In Love Again." Other fine covers include Tim Hardin's "Reason To Believe" and an arrestingly mournful version of Lennon/McCartney's "Help." The album also includes four Richard Carpenter originals, with "Another Song" and the girl-groupish "Maybe It's You" the highlights. CLOSE TO YOU is one of the Carpenters' most commercially and artistically successful albums.
