Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do you use a commerical pattern?
A: No!  When I first made the switch from disposable diapers to cloth I was intrigued by all the different types of commerical and WAHM diapers.  Rather than infringe on someone's copyright I took out one of my daughter's leftover disposables, traced it to get a general shape, and then tailored it to fit my needs.  I looked to commerical and WAHM diapers for ideas when I ran into problems but I use my own pattern.

Q: Are these diapers waterproof?
A:  Fitted diapers require a waterproof cover such as a PUL or fleece cover.
A:  Pockets and AIOs do not require a waterproof cover as they already contain PUL.

Q: How do I wash my diapers?
A: Wash with a gentle detergent on warm, rinse cold.  I like to rinse twice to make sure all the soap is out.  Dry on low in the dryer or hang to dry.  DO NOT use fabric softner or bleach on your diapers.

Q: What kind of materials are used?
A: In fitted diapers the materials used include hemp fleece, organic velour, cotton stretch knit, cotton/polyester thread, WoolyNylon serger thread, and poly-resin snaps.  All fabrics are washed prior to cutting so there will be no problems with shrinkage. 
A: Pocket diapers and AIO diapers are made with PUL, microfiber soakers, microfleece or suedecloth inners, and poly-resin snaps.  All are sewn with cotton/polyester thread.

Q: Do you treat diapers before sending?
A: All diapers are washed and dried 3-5 times before sending to increase absorbancy of the hemp layers as well as to test for any minor defects.
