I have an entire collection of hand painted ceramic tile art work online now and they are all absolutely stunning! Not only are these tiles great for hanging on any wall, but the backing can easily be removed by soaking them for about 12 hours. This makes it possible to integrate them into any tile system you may already have in your kitchen or bathroom.

The painting on this tile is raised and the glazing is glossy. They are gorgeous and will last forever (if not broken.) They are ready to hang, the backs covered in black with a built in hanger for the wall, and a built in stand if you'd rather display it table top.

This tile is 8 inches by 8 inches. The upper background is colbalt, the lower is green and beige. A martini glass is the focus, with a pimento stuffed olive, and the word MARTINI is split around the glass.

Occasionally, there may be crazing in a tile. If so, this is UNDER the glossy finish and appears as a crackle finish. This is common, and I talk about it below. For durability and beauty, it makes no difference.

Now, a little bit about the making of this tile - they are made through an elaborate process called Tube-Lining. It's a time consuming process that begins with the artist drawing an exceedingly detailed image on the bare tile by using special tools filled with liquid clay. This clay forms small barriers that allow control of the diverse liquid glazes that rest behind them.

They undergo several cycles of kiln firing and cooling in temperatures exceeding 2000 degrees F. Typically this is a 24 hour process. This stage often causes fine lines to appear on the artwork due to its expanding and shrinking. This crazing is very common in ceramic projects, but it has no effect in the strength and durability of these tiles. It is never the finish that is crazed, the finish is always smooth to the touch.
