I am very pleased to have available this exceptional Collins 51S-1A general coverage receiver available for sale along with original power lead, weighted VFO knob, Dial Brake and original Manual.

Just look at her, isn’t she a beauty??? The front panel and trim ring are what I would describe as perfect, the cabinet is the Genuine, Original cabinet designed for this model and is also in unmarked condition. 

When I first purchased the receiver, it came from the second owner who purchased it from a commercial establishment, he used it for a short time and put it in storage, it had been sat untouched for several years until I purchased it.

Using my variac I spent 24 hours bringing it back up to operating voltage and am pleased to say that it seems to be working 100%, I have checked out all of the tubes and done a breif alignment to get top performance out of the receiver.

I am supplying the original power lead and manual with this auction.

Supporting the serial of 3808 with a Xtal date off 40-67 and has the 2750 USB and LSB filter and the 800Hz CW filter.

Cosmetically it’s in excellent, close to new condition, the chassis is very clean as you can see and has a just a slight amount of dust but that’s all, as yuo can see it has not been tampered with.

When using the receiver, I find it very lively and the sensativity seems outstanding. 

The receiver is working on all bands and in all modes, the PTO is tracking exceptionally well and is not out at the end stops which is nice to see for a change.

All controls are pretty much dust free and positive in their actions.

This receiver has the darker meter face which I prefer it as it’s easy to read and makes the overall appearance of the receiver much nicer.

This receiver has the original weighted VFO main tuning knob which certainly smooth’s out the tuning and gives it that Extra quality feel to it.

Please remember that this receiver is a classic, its 40 years old and as such no warrantee is implied or available, it is sold as is but at the time of the listing is working well.

So if you’re after one of the most desirable of the Collins receivers available, then I would not hesitate in recommending this receiver to you.
