This
machine is tested and working, up the point of displaying the message "ONE
MOMENT PLEASE, This channel should be available shortly" on any selected
channel. Also, all of the buttons and controls
appear to work up to the point of waiting for an authorization signal from
Comcast. (I could also get to the guide setup menu option.) This
machine includes the power cord but no remote control. It should work with
your Comcast remote control. If worked when tested in both 2007 and 2008,
but it is technically sold "as is".
However, just because this
machine works does not automatically mean you can get it to work with Comcast or
your cable TV provider. Please check with your cable
TV provider to find out if 1) if their company allows you to hook up a cable TV
box that you own instead of rent to their cable TV service, and 2)
if they (or you and they) can set up this Comcast Motorola DCT2224/1662/ACDEG
cable TV digital box to work with their cable TV service.

In some cases, you can actually
own and use your very own digital cable TV box, your entertainment gateway to a huge
selection of cable TV channels. If your cable company allows you to do
this, and you can technically get this Comcast Motorola DCT2224/1662/ACDEG
cable TV digital box to work with your TV cable company, then this digital cable TV box may
be just what you're looking for.
Caveat: In most cases, Comcast does not want you
to own your own digital cable TV box, and they will only rent you their digital
cable TV box instead. Please be sure to check with your cable company in
advance to be sure that 1) they will let you use it to connect to their
cable TV signal, 2) this machine currently configured for Comcast will work
(with or without reconfiguration) with their system, and 3) be reasonably confident you
and or tech support can and will reconfigure your machine to work with their
cable TV broadcast if any reconfiguration is necessary. Once again, please
be aware that 1) this machine is currently configured for Comcast, and 2)
Comcast will usually not let you use any digital cable box that you own
with their cable TV service.
In other words, getting this digital cable TV box to
legally work and receive legal, paid-for cable TV is usually a technical
project, not a guaranteed certainty. I'm not guaranteeing that you
and/or tech support can and will successfully set up and configure this Comcast
Motorola DCT2224/1662/ACDEG cable TV digital box to work with your TV cable company.
This cable TV box was legally
purchased at an eBay auction, but the current owner discovered after the fact
that his local Comcast cable TV provider would not allow him to hook it up to
Comcast. So this powerful device that, if configured and connected
properly, is a high-tech gateway to an incredible array of cable TV channels, is
now for sale.

I couldn't quickly find a manual for the DCT
2224, but I could quickly find a not very useful manual for the Motorola DCT
2020. You might be able to find a more useful manual for a similar
Motorola digital cable TV box. I did find a $6.99 with email delivery
approx. 20-page report by a Comcast technician, a MOTOROLA DIGITAL CABLE BOX 2224,2244,* SPECIAL REPORT *.

One ebay seller, in
auction 170210771870, claimed
about the DCT2244
that "This
digital cable box is compatible with most major cable providers including,
Adelphia Cable Systems, Charter Cable, Comcast, Cox Broadcasting, MediaCom,
MediaONE, SHAW, Time Warner Cable, and other cable providers operating on the
DCT digital cable systems." Sounds
nice, but I strongly recommend contacting the company to make sure that they can
configure and connect your machine to work with their cable TV service
first. Please remember that this
Comcast Motorola DCT2224/1662/ACDEG cable TV
digital box is currently set up
to work with Comcast.
