This is wonderful art book published in 1954 to commmemorate the 25th anniversary of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. The dust cover is torn but binding and cover are like new. there are a few small water spots on the edge of pages but no real damage inside pages. There is a small dark spot on the top outside corner of the pages in the middle of the book that can be seen in the photo of the opened book. I don't think this takes away from enjoying the overall preserved quality of this book. Given that this book is 54 years old, I believe it is in very good to excellent condition.
It is 240 pages long with 356 high quality plates (77 of these are in full color) of the highlights of the Modern's permanant collection as it was in 1954. It is edited by Alfred H. Barr, Jr., the museum's first director with contributions from the Museum of Modern Art's experts: Philip Johnson, Edward Steichen, Richard Griffith and William Lieberman. In the book, they give both a nice overview of modern art and the history of the museum's collection.
This beautiful book is just over 10 inches wide, 11 inches tall, and an inch thick. The prints are still vibrant and the book spent most of its life on a shelf in a private collection. As said, the binding is tight with no noticable wear and pages are in great condition with the exception of some spots on the edges. There is not any water damaged to the book.
This is a great book for anyone interested in Art, Art History or Museum History from one of the premier art museums of the world. Winning bidder only pays calculated media shipping rate in USA or calculated flat rate for international shipping.
