1. alt.glamour is an on-going project, a work in progress scheduled to remain in progress. Our aim is to arm you with all the skills needed to provide your clients with a competitive and compelling brand of photography all your own.

We’re all born with the capacity to create. In order to maximize that potential one has to study what’s come before them. After all, we don’t want to keep inventing wheels!
In today’s world of affordable cameras, the availability of media, internet websites, Photoshop, get rich quick schemes, and everything else you can think of gone are the days of being the only photographer in town and being able to settle for anything less than your true perfection.
Do you remember the first time you picked up a camera? I do. I was at an Uncle’s place and my Mom had a Polaroid she was taking pictures with. I’d been wanting to use her camera so badly it hurt. I didn't realize how much film would cost and Mom hesitated to let me use it, I'm only guessing because of the cost. After all, she had other photos she wanted to take of our family gathering. She let me use her camera when she realized how weary-eyed I became. She must have seen a part of herself in me. She was a great photographer by the way!
What did I take a photo of? The T.V. set! There are the obvious reasons this photo didn’t turn out well but I didn’t know them at the time. It was however a very magical moment for me when I noticed the blurred form of those two beloved chipmunks, Chip & Dale on the film.
Much later I wondered if I would ever be able to capture a moment that felt like this. Oh how I loved the chipmunks!
After much technical training and thousands of hours of trial by error I finally did understand a lot more about the field of photography. It's a long time between paychecks if you move to take the easy way out.
Sure you can snap away all day using different settings and by the time you’re out of film, or memory space you’ll have some desirable images. But to capture those special moments you’ll have to know more than just the basics. Imagine all the missed opportunities if you don’t.
