Maintained, repaired, sealed and banded...a great player that you should enjoy for years to come. One of the best soloist clarinets ever made.
Be sure to see my other 444 listed on ebay for more important information about this type of clarinet.
It was obvious when I first played a Conn 444 that it was the same instrument I heard on the famous recordings by Artie Shaw made in the late 30s. This is the same type of clarinet he played, from the same era. I bought 17 of these on ebay with problems like cracks running under the keys and going through tone holes, or other things that made them unrepairable. It seems like they are all cracked. It took years to find one that turned out OK after all the repairs, and I eventually found four good ones (only two had no cracks).CLICK HERE for more information and pictures. I have three of these that I used to play and all are on ebay now.
It seems that almost all of these crack, but this one was loved, and expertly repaired properly. It has held up well over the test of time...a real player.
This one comes with a vintage crystal mouthpiece that I think may be something special. Also included, besides the case and swab, will be a bottle of bore oil, and a couple of excellent reeds. Ready to play, and this is one of the best ones I ever found. As much as I love the 444, and after all of the trouble that I went through to find a couple of players I decided to sell this because I have been completely swept away by a metal Conn that took me a year to get fixed right, and I'm going to be playing that one for awhile, so my highly coveted Conn 444N can be yours. Play like Artie Shaw!
