I have three separate listings up on period Calendar Ink blotters with Beautiful color Lithos by Adelaide Hiebel. There are slightly varying birth and death dates on Adelaide Hiebel in different bios, but the dates would be circa 1886-1968. The bios agree that she born in New Hope, Wisconsin, and in 1919-1954. she worked for the prolific Calendar and advertising firm of Gerlach & Barklow, Joliet, Ill (signed "G&B" on the these blotters). Ms Hiebel is considered one of the most well known and finest of the Women advertising artists of her era, and is highly collected. This Calendar advertising blotter measures approx. 4"x 9". One of her strongest themes was children and their pets. This one is titled, "Silence is the language of content", and shows a beautiful child, with their sweet fluffy terrier in a tender moment. It is an nostalgic period vignette as can be seen. This item has advertising for "The First National Bank", Plainfield, Illinois" and is dated Feb 1937. This item has minor, normal expected wear, some minor roughness in the bottom right corner, and some general corner wear, and is in overall good condition for the age. This item would be rare as it is such regional advertising, and these types of items are very ephemeral and usually were disposed after their initial use by the original owner. This one does not show signs of being used as ink blotter. I show the back to show the condition of the blotter (very minor stains), and the advertising on the back. This item is likely rare, if not unique at this point in time, chances are that if you would like a vintage example of this blotter, especially anytime soon, you will likely need to get it here. This maybe of regional historic interest as well as the major interest in this fine lady artist's work. I am pleased to offer this appealing item for consideration. I will enclose a brief bio that I found on the net and include a print out of that with item to the winning bidder. Check out my other items!
I tend to like the old, unusual, scarce and possibly unique items. If this is your interest also, then check out my other listings. I do combine your winning auctions to save you money on shipping costs. Let me know if you want insurance. I do give "frequent flyers" breaks. I DO NOT sell to Poland or Spain. The mail is too slow and complaints are too high, mail delivery rates have been 1-2 months!. Postcards are shipped in cardboard and rigid plastic sleeves to protect from damage, I DO NOT profit from postage. The postage cost for outside the US is $3.00 for postcards in the rigid protector. Please inquire regarding postage rates for other items outside of the US. Thanks, Bob, Roger ** Please use the email rmiller2@stny.rr.com for payment to paypal.
