The Locking Mechanism. With a adhesive-free joint system there is no need for adhesive or nails to install your new floor. Just snap it together, similar to a laminate floor. You will be amazed by the ease of installation and the end result of the project. A meticulous tight fitting gap free joint, from the day of installation for the life of the floor. The locking joint is precision milled directly into the HDF center board to ensure a perfect fit as well as easy installation. Enviro-cork features consistent quality in every floor plank. Even if you are laying a floor for the first time, a perfect result is now possible with the glueless locking system. Engage the tongue and groove of the boards at an angle, lay flat and click them together. The cork underlayment is pre-attached to the back of each plank so no additional sound reduction underlay will be needed. A quicker installation that guarantees a tight seamless joint and no mess cleanup.
Enviro-Cork Difference. The 4mm thick cork surface of Enviro-Cork makes the difference. The most costly part of a cork floor is the larger burl patterns and designs. Most cork floors consist of a paper thin veneer of this more expensive cork burl pattern fused over the top of a 4mm plain layer of standard cork. This plain layer under the thin veneer does not have any burl design. This means the floor can not be sanded or screened down later, like a regular hardwood floor. Enviro-Cork on the other hand does not use the veneer fuse method. Rather, the entire top 4mm is the burl design all the way to the core. This means the pattern travels through the surface and can be sanded and refinished in the future when desired. The best part, the Enviro-Cork price is actually lower than the brands that utilize the veneer method in their manufacturing process.
Cork Adds Value. Enviro-Cork is a flooring option for those who require style and insist on the use of natural renewable materials. With Enviro-cork you can demand a perfect result without spending a fortune. Not only are Cork floors a timeless elegant choice, they also add re-sale value to your home. Cork floors have been installed in homes for years with lasting durable results. Enviro-Cork flooring will age beautifully with the other fine furnishings in your home. The Finish.Enviro-Cork applies 6 individual coats of German manufactured Treffic water-based matte polyurethane finish. It is designed for and proven to provide durability and easy maintenance for both residential and commercial installations. The center core is a high density fiber board core. The HDF cores are made from post production waste. The back of the planks feature a high quality, pre-attached cork underlayment. Enviro-Cork needs no additional sound deadening underlayment for installation.
Frequently asked questions about Enviro-Cork.
Q. I have never seen cork flooring. Where do people install it? A. Cork flooring has been around a long time. Floors that were installed 70 years ago are still in service today. People will install the cork flooring in various residential settings from kitchens to offices and dens.
Q. Does cork flooring stand up to higher traffic areas? A. Yes, Cork flooring does well in higher traffic areas including commercial settings. For example, Gold's gym in downtown Seattle installed cork flooring in the check-in reception area. Amazon.com installed the cork flooring in their conference rooms.
Q. Do you have to use adhesive with the Enviro-Cork flooring? A. No, Enviro-Cork is a floating cork floor, featuring a glueless locking tongue and groove for fast installation.
Q. What type of underlayment do I use under the Enviro-Cork floating floor? A. Enviro-cork comes complete with a 2mm thick cork underlayment already affixed to the planks. If you are installing over a wooden subfloor, you do not need to purchase an additional underlayment. If you are installing over a concrete floor, you will need to purchase a plastic moisture barrier, available in rolls for around $.06 per square foot. This moisture barrier is layed out on the concrete floor and then the planks are clicked together over the moisture barrier.
Q. I am looking at a brand called "Natural-Cork". Do I have to put more coats of finish on the Enviro-Cork like I do on the Natural-Cork brand? A. Enviro-Cork comes pre-finished. You do not need to put additional coats of finish on the surface. Install this floor and walk on it the same day.
Q. Where does the cork come from? Is it real cork? A. The cork is peeled from the Cork Oak tree grown in Portugal. The Cork comes from the waste product left over from wine bottle stop production. It is an enviromentally conscious flooring option that delivers beauty and durability.
Q. Is cork soft? Does it dent easy? A. Cork flooring is softer than hardwood flooring underfoot. It is considered a resilient flooring option. Cork can dent from things like table legs over time. An advantage of Cork is its ability to revive from impressions. Being resilient, over a period of time, it will recover from much of the dent impressions inflicted upon the surface.
